RSS to Slack: add an RSS feed to any Slack channel

To add an RSS feed to a Slack channel, add Slack's RSS app to your workspace, then send /feed subscribe followed by the feed's URL in that channel. Slack checks the feed from then on and posts new items there. For keyword filters, whole folders of feeds, or the same news in Microsoft Teams or Discord, Feeder's Post to Slack rule sends each matching item to the channel you pick. Zapier, Make and IFTTT can do it too.

What are my options for getting RSS into Slack?

How do I add an RSS feed to Slack with Slack's RSS app?

Slack's RSS app reads RSS and Atom feeds. These steps follow Slack's help article, which we checked on September 29, 2026:

1. Open the RSS app in the Slack Marketplace, select Add to Slack, then Add RSS integration.
2. Paste the feed's address next to Feed URL, choose a channel and select Subscribe to this feed.
3. To add more feeds, go to a channel and send /feed subscribe followed by the feed's address, for example /feed subscribe https://example.com/feed.xml.

In a channel, /feed list shows its feeds with an ID number for each, /feed remove followed by that number unsubscribes, and /feed help lists the commands.

A few things to know before you rely on it:

• It posts every item. Slack's help article describes no way to filter items by keyword.
• It goes by date. The app remembers the date of the last item it fetched and only picks up items dated later. An item that arrives with an older date isn't posted.
• No stated schedule. Slack says it fetches feeds periodically, but not how often.
• Everyone except guests can use it, on every Slack plan.
• Support is limited. Slack says that apps its team built to connect other services may not be tested, documented or supported the way its core features are.

How does Feeder's Post to Slack rule work?

Post to Slack is one of the actions in Feeder's Rules, and it's part of Feeder Professional. In short:

1. Select Rules in the sidebar, then New rule.
2. Under What should happen?, choose Post to Slack and select Connect to Slack. Slack asks you to allow Feeder in your workspace. You might need a workspace admin to approve it.
3. Pick the workspace under Posting as and the channel under Select channel.
4. Under Select feeds, pick feeds, folders or All feeds. A rule on a folder also covers feeds you add to that folder later.
5. Add keywords if you only want some posts, then select Save rule.

Feeder can post to any public channel without joining it. For a private channel, first send /invite @feeder in that channel, then select Reload channels in Feeder. Automatically post news to Slack has every step with screenshots.

Keywords are optional. Without them, every new post goes to Slack. With them, each condition has three choices:

• Contain or Don't contain: send posts that have your keywords, or posts that don't.
• Any keywords or All keywords: one keyword is enough, or every keyword must be there.
• in title, in summary and in URL: where Feeder looks. The summary is the text the feed sends with each post.

Add condition adds another set of keywords, joined with AND or OR. Capitalization, phrases and wildcards are in How keyword matching works in Rules.

What does Feeder's Slack message look like?

When does Feeder post to Slack?

• For new posts only. The rule acts on posts that arrive after you save it. It doesn't send the posts you already have.
• Once for each post. Every matching post is its own message. If the site edits a post later and Feeder picks up the change, the edited version is sent too.
• Right after the feed's next check. On Professional, Feeder checks feeds every 10 minutes by default, and you can set a feed to update as often as every minute. See How often Feeder checks your feeds.
• Only for posts that match. A post that a Filter posts or Filter duplicates rule hides isn't sent.
• More slowly when Slack asks. Slack generally lets an app post about one message per second to a channel. If Slack asks Feeder to slow down, Feeder waits a minute and sends the waiting posts together, up to 10 in one message. There, each post shows the feed's icon, name and time above its title, without the image.

Why did my Slack rule stop posting?

Feeder pauses a rule when Slack's answer means the next posts would fail too. Open Rules: a paused rule shows Resume, and hovering over it shows why. Fix the cause, then select Resume. Posts that arrived while the rule was paused aren't sent.

The channel is the usual suspect. Of the 30 Slack rules Feeder has paused on its own, 29 were paused because Slack couldn't find the channel.

Can Feeder post RSS to Microsoft Teams?

Yes. Post to Microsoft Teams works like Post to Slack, with the same feed and keyword options, on Professional. You connect your Microsoft account, install the Feeder app for Teams, add the Feeder bot to your team and pick a channel. Automatically post news to Microsoft Teams has the steps.

• The message is a card with the site's icon and the feed's name, the post's title as a link, and the first 255 characters or so of its text.
• AI summaries. Turn on Include an AI summary with each post, and the card shows the bullet points of Feeder's post summary in place of the text. Each new summary counts toward your daily post summaries, and once they run out, cards show the text again.
• Pauses. Feeder pauses the rule when the bot has been blocked or the channel can't be found. If Teams asks Feeder to slow down, Feeder waits a minute and sends the waiting posts together.

Teams had its own RSS connector, one of the Office 365 connectors that Microsoft retired in May 2026. Microsoft points to the Workflows app instead, which has templates such as "Post a channel message when a new RSS feed is published".

Can Feeder post RSS to Discord?

Yes. Post to Discord is part of Professional too. Select Connect to Discord, and Discord asks you to add Feeder's bot to a server where you're allowed to add bots. Then pick a text or announcement channel under Select channel.

• The message is an embed: the feed's name and icon at the top, the post's title as a link, the first 255 characters or so of its text, and the post's image in large size.
• Pauses. Feeder pauses the rule when the channel is gone, isn't a text channel, or the bot isn't allowed to post there. Give the bot access or pick another channel, then resume the rule.

Does Feedly have a Slack integration?

Yes, for teams on Feedly Threat Intelligence and Feedly Market Intelligence, according to Feedly's documentation. In Slack, /feedly subscribe connects a channel to a Feedly Team AI Feed or Team Board. New articles in the AI Feed, or articles someone saves to the Board, then post to the channel. Each subscription can add article summaries, and on some plans translate articles into English. For Team AI Feeds, it can also hold back duplicates, which delays each notification by 30 minutes.

How do I post RSS to Slack with Zapier, Make or IFTTT?

Each tool pairs an RSS trigger with a Slack action. We checked these names on each tool's own site on September 29, 2026:

In each tool, you build the Slack message from the item's fields yourself. They're the quickest route if your team already uses one of them.

Can I send RSS to a Slack webhook?

Yes, with a script in between. A Slack incoming webhook takes a JSON body such as {"text": "Hello, world."} and posts it to the one channel it was made for. The Python script on our RSS to webhook page checks a feed on a schedule and sends each new item once. Point it at your Slack webhook URL and change its payload line to:

Don't point Feeder's Post to Webhook rule at a Slack webhook. It sends Feeder's own JSON format, which isn't a Slack message. Use Post to Slack instead.

Is there a free way to post RSS to Slack?

Yes. Slack's RSS app is available on every Slack plan. IFTTT and Zapier have free plans too, which check feeds every hour and every 15 minutes. Feeder's Post to Slack rule needs Professional.

How do I get an RSS feed into Microsoft Teams?

Use Feeder's Post to Microsoft Teams rule on Professional, or a Workflows template in Teams such as "Post a channel message when a new RSS feed is published". Teams' old RSS connector stopped working when Microsoft retired Office 365 connectors in May 2026.

How do I add an RSS feed to a private Slack channel?
