Google News RSS feeds: topic list and a feed for any search

The Google News RSS feed for top stories is https://news.google.com/rss?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US:en, and every search has a feed at https://news.google.com/rss/search?q= followed by your search words. Google News also has a feed for each topic, for places and for its editions in other countries. What is the Google News RSS feed URL?

There are four kinds of Google News feed. Click a name to add the feed to Feeder, or copy the URL into any RSS reader.

Each item has the headline, the name of the news site and a link that opens the story through Google News. There's no summary. A search feed lists about 100 stories at most, a topic or place feed up to 70, and top stories a few dozen.

Google News RSS topics list

Google News has eight main topics. Each one has a feed at https://news.google.com/rss/headlines/section/topic/ followed by the topic's name in capitals: WORLD, NATION, BUSINESS, TECHNOLOGY, ENTERTAINMENT, SPORTS, SCIENCE and HEALTH. Google forwards these addresses to the topic's own address, and both work in a reader.

NATION is the news of the country you pick with gl: U.S. news for gl=US, UK news for gl=GB. For the topics of another country, change the end of the address as shown in Google News RSS for other countries.

How do I get the feed for any other Google News topic?

1. Open the topic on news.google.com. It can be a company, a sports team or a subject like artificial intelligence.
2. Its address looks like https://news.google.com/topics/CAAqJggK...?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US:en.
3. Add rss/ after news.google.com/, so the address starts with https://news.google.com/rss/topics/. That is the feed.

How do I make a Google News RSS feed for a search?

Start from this address and put your search after q=. Use + for each space and %22 for a quote mark.

The search works like the search box on news.google.com, and these operators work in a feed too:

Add when: to every search you follow. Without it, a search feed can list stories that are months old: our test search for electric cars went back to May. when:1d keeps a busy search to the past day, so the 100-story limit doesn't cut new stories off.

How do I get a Google News RSS feed for a website?

Use site: with the site's address, like site:theverge.com. Add a section of the site to narrow it, like site:reuters.com/world. The feed lists the site's stories that Google News has found, so it only works for sites that Google News includes. For a site that isn't in Google News, the feed stays empty.

This is a good way to follow a news site that has no working feed of its own. Reuters RSS feeds and CNN RSS feeds list ready-made ones, one for each section.

Google News RSS for other countries and languages

Three settings at the end of the address pick the edition:

• hl is the language, like en-US, en-GB or de.
• gl is the country, like US, GB or DE.
• ceid is the country and language together, like US:en or DE:de.

Copy the three as a set from the table below. They don't always follow one pattern: Brazil, for example, is hl=pt-BR&gl=BR&ceid=BR:pt-419. The table lists the top stories feed of 24 editions. For a search or a topic in an edition, put the same three at the end of the search or topic address, for example https://news.google.com/rss/search?q=Elektroauto+when:7d&hl=de&gl=DE&ceid=DE:de.

For the UK Business topic, for example, use https://news.google.com/rss/headlines/section/topic/BUSINESS?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB:en.

Google News RSS for a city or region

Local news has a feed at https://news.google.com/rss/headlines/section/geo/ followed by the place. Write the place out, like Chicago or Seattle,%20Washington, with %20 for a space.

How do I follow a Google News search in Feeder?

1. Click Add feed.
2. Under Web monitoring, choose Google News.
3. Under Follow a keyword search on Google News, type your search. The operators above work here too, like "electric cars" -Tesla or site:theverge.com.
4. Pick a Language. The menu has 82 languages and countries.
5. Click Search, check the preview, then click Follow.

What to know before you rely on a Google News feed

• Headlines only. Each item has a headline and the name of the site. The link opens the story through news.google.com.
• About 100 stories at most. A broad search fills up fast. Narrow it, or add when:1d, so you see every new story.
• Google picks the order. The feed lists stories by relevance, not by time. Your reader sorts them by date.
• For personal use. Each feed says it is made available "solely for the purpose of rendering Google News results within a personal feed reader for personal, non-commercial use."

Does Google News still have RSS feeds?

Yes. Every feed on this page worked when we checked it on September 28, 2026: top stories, the eight topics, searches, places and 24 editions.

Is the Google News RSS feed free?

Yes. It needs no Google account and no API key, and Google doesn't charge for it. Your reader fetches it like any other feed.

Can I get Google News alerts as an RSS feed?

Can I show a Google News RSS feed on my website?

Not under Google's terms. Each feed limits its use to a personal feed reader for personal, non-commercial use, so a website or a WordPress widget is out.
