Feeder has no pause button for a feed, but you can make a feed go quiet without deleting it. Turn off Mark new posts as unread and the feed's notifications. The feed keeps its folder, its posts and its rules, and new posts no longer show up as unread.
How do I pause a feed?
- Right-click the feed in your feed list, or hover over it and select More (the three dots).
- Select Edit feed.
- On the Settings tab, clear Mark new posts as unread. The change is saved right away.
- Under Notifications, turn off Desktop, Sound, Mobile and E-mail.
- To clear the posts that are unread already, right-click the feed and select Mark feed as read.
In the iPhone, iPad and Android apps, go to Feeds, swipe left on the feed, tap Edit and turn off Mark new posts as unread.
What happens while a feed is paused?
- Feeder keeps checking the feed. New posts arrive as read, so they stay out of your unread lists and the feed's unread count stays at zero.
- You can still open the feed and read every post, also the ones that came in while it was paused.
- The feed stays in its folders, and it still counts toward your plan's feed limit.
- Rules that watch the feed keep running. To stop a rule too, pause it as shown below.
Why can't I turn off notifications for this feed?
If a notification type is on for all feeds in Settings, Notifications, it shows as on for every feed, and you can't turn it off for one. Turn it off there, then turn it on in Edit feed only for the feeds you want to hear about. See Get notifications for new posts in your RSS feeds.
How do I pause a rule?
Click Rules in the sidebar, find the rule and select Pause. A paused rule keeps its settings but doesn't act on new posts. Select Resume to turn it back on. The rule doesn't go back through the posts that came in while it was paused.
Common questions
How do I turn the feed back on?
Open Edit feed again and select Mark new posts as unread. From then on, new posts count as unread again. Posts that came in while the feed was paused stay read.
Can I stop Feeder from checking a feed?
Not while you follow it. To have it checked less often, set Update speed in Edit feed to 24 hrs. To stop it completely, select Unfollow, and add the feed again when you want it back. See How often Feeder checks your feeds for new posts.
