Twitter (X) RSS feeds: what still works and alternatives

Updated September 27, 2026 4 min read

X (formerly Twitter) has no RSS feeds, and Nitter, the free tool that used to make them, is down or blocked almost everywhere. To follow X accounts in an RSS reader today, use a paid feed generator like rss.app, or follow the same people on Bluesky or Mastodon, which have a free RSS feed for every profile. Feeder does not read X directly, but it works with all of these options.

Does Twitter have an RSS feed?

No. Twitter removed its RSS feeds years ago, and X has not brought them back. Adding /rss to an X profile address only opens the normal web page. X has also closed access to its API, which is why Feeder can't follow X accounts on its own.

How do I get an RSS feed from Twitter today?

rss.app (paid)

rss.app makes RSS feeds from public X profiles, hashtags and searches, and its feeds work in Feeder. Plans start at $8.32 a month, billed yearly, with a 7-day free trial.

  1. Open rss.app's X / Twitter RSS feed page and paste the X address, for example https://x.com/NASA.
  2. Create the feed and copy its feed link.
  3. In Feeder, click Add feed and paste the link.

What happened to Nitter?

Nitter was a free, open-source way to read X without an account, and every profile on it had an RSS feed. When we checked in September 2026, nitter.net did not answer, XCancel had suspended its service, and the other public Nitter instances we tried were down or blocked. A few small ones still run, but they come and go, so they are a shaky base for feeds you rely on.

Follow the same people on Bluesky

Many journalists, writers and news organizations that post on X also post on Bluesky, and every Bluesky profile has a free RSS feed. Add /rss to the profile address:

https://bsky.app/profile/HANDLE/rss

Bluesky forwards that address to one with the account's permanent ID, so the feed keeps working even if the handle changes. In Feeder, you can also paste the profile address itself, and Feeder finds the feed.

Follow them on Mastodon

Mastodon has a free RSS feed for every public profile and hashtag. Add .rss to the address, like https://mastodon.social/@Mastodon.rss, or paste the profile address into Feeder. Mastodon RSS feeds has the details.

Or follow their website or newsletter

Most writers, companies and news sites that post on X also publish somewhere with a feed.

  • A website or blog: paste its address into Feeder's Add feed, and Feeder finds the feed.
  • A newsletter: Feeder gives you a personal e-mail address that turns newsletters into a feed.
  • A YouTube channel: every channel has a feed. See YouTube RSS feeds.
  • A site with no feed: choose Create a custom RSS feed for this website and pick the part of the page to watch. Here is how.

Common questions

Does Feeder support Twitter?

Not directly. X closed access to its API, so Feeder can't read X on its own, and the Post to Twitter rule is retired. You can add an rss.app feed of an X account, or follow the same person on Bluesky or Mastodon.

Is there a free Twitter RSS feed?

Not a reliable one. X has no feeds of its own, and most free Nitter instances have shut down. Bluesky and Mastodon feeds are free, so they are the best option when the person posts there too.

Can I get an RSS feed for a hashtag or search on X?

rss.app can make one from an X hashtag or search. For a free option, Mastodon has a feed for every hashtag, like https://mastodon.social/tags/rss.rss.
