RSS feeds in ChatGPT: read and search your feeds in a chat

Updated October 13, 2026 2 min read

ChatGPT doesn't follow RSS feeds by itself. It has no list of your sources, and it can't tell what's new since yesterday. The easy fix is to connect an RSS reader. With the official Feeder plugin, ChatGPT can read the feeds you follow in Feeder, search every post and brief you on what's new.

How to connect your RSS feeds to ChatGPT

  1. Follow your feeds in Feeder. Paste a site or feed URL, or import an OPML file from the reader you use today.
  2. In ChatGPT, open the Plugins directory and add Feeder.
  3. Log in to Feeder when ChatGPT asks, and approve access.

Reading your feeds in ChatGPT needs Feeder Plus or higher. The step-by-step guide is in Use Feeder in ChatGPT.

What you can ask

  • "Use Feeder to brief me on what's new in my feeds today."
  • "Use Feeder to search my feeds for news about the EU AI Act and sum up what changed this week."
  • "Use Feeder to find the RSS feed for Ars Technica and add it to my Tech folder."
  • "Use Feeder to save the three most useful unread posts to my Read Later collection."

Can ChatGPT read an RSS feed URL without a plugin?

Sometimes. Paste a feed URL, and ChatGPT can often open it and sum up the latest items. But it won't check the feed again tomorrow, tell you when something new arrives or search older posts. That's the job of an RSS reader, and the plugin connects the two.

Why use a reader instead of asking ChatGPT for the news?

  • You choose the sources. ChatGPT reads the feeds you follow, not whatever a web search turns up.
  • Nothing gets missed. Feeder checks your feeds around the clock, so every post is there when you ask.
  • Alerts still work. Feeder sends push notifications, email digests and Slack or Teams messages, with or without ChatGPT.

Other AI assistants

Feeder also connects to Claude, Codex, Cursor and other MCP clients. See Connect Feeder to your AI assistant with MCP.
