Looking for a post you know was there yesterday? It's almost always one of five things, and most take a few seconds to fix.
Why can't I see older posts?
| Cause | How to tell | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The list shows only unread posts | A post goes away as soon as you read it. The Filters button says Active filters. | Select Filters and untick Unread under Show only. See Customize the post list. |
| Feeder marked old posts as read | Unread posts older than a set number of days go away on their own, while you show only unread posts. | In Settings, Advanced, change Mark posts as read if unread after, or set it to Never. See How to mark posts as read. |
| A rule hides the posts | You made a filter rule for the feed, and the missing posts match it. | Select Filters and tick Filtered under Include to show them again. |
| The list reached your plan's post limit | The list ends with ๐ Upgrade to see more posts. | A post list shows the newest 50 posts on the Free plan and 100 on Plus. Upgrade to see more, or open the site to read older posts. |
| The posts came before Feeder had the feed | You followed the feed recently, and the missing posts are older than that. | Feeder can only show posts it has collected. Open the site to read older posts. |
Why does a busy feed lose yesterday's posts?
The post limit counts posts, not days. A feed that publishes all day, like a news wire or an incident log, can fill 50 posts in a few hours. Yesterday's posts are then past the end of the list, even though Feeder has them.
To see more of one busy feed, open the feed on its own instead of a folder, so other feeds don't share the list. Or upgrade for a longer list. See What's included in Feeder's Free plan.
How far back can Feeder show a new feed?
Only as far as the feed itself goes. When you follow a feed that nobody on Feeder followed before, Feeder starts with the posts that are in the feed right now. Many sites list only their newest 10 to 25 posts in their feed, so anything older never reaches Feeder. From then on, Feeder collects each new post as it checks the feed. See How often Feeder checks your feeds for new posts.
Common questions
How do I see the oldest posts first?
Open the feed or folder, select Display and set Order to Oldest first.
Did Feeder delete my old posts?
No. Marking posts as read, a filter or the post limit only hides posts from the list. Starred posts stay in Starred.
Still missing a post? E-mail support@feeder.co with the feed's address and the post's title, and we'll take a look.
