If you’ve added a feed to Feeder and it’s not updating due to a “Blocked by Cloudflare” error, this means that the website’s firewall settings are preventing Feeder from accessing its content. Unfortunately, this is not something we can fix directly.
What Is Cloudflare?
Cloudflare is a service that provides security, performance optimization, and firewall protection for websites. One of its features is a bot detection system that blocks automated requests if it deems them suspicious. While this is intended to stop malicious bots, it sometimes mistakenly flags legitimate services like Feeder as a threat.
Why Feeder Can’t Fix This
The website owner has enabled firewall protection that is incorrectly identifying Feeder as a bad bot. Since Feeder has no control over Cloudflare’s settings on other websites, the only way to resolve this issue is for the website owner to update their firewall rules and allow Feeder to access their RSS feeds.
How to Fix the Issue
The best way to resolve this is to contact the website owner and ask them to allow Feeder to access their RSS feeds. Below is an email template you can use to reach out to them.
Subject: Please Unblock Feeder from Your Firewall
Hi there,
I use Feeder to follow updates from your website, but it looks like your firewall is blocking their RSS crawler from accessing the feed. Can you please update your firewall settings to allow their service?
Here is a link to Feeder’s IP addresses that should be whitelisted: feeder.co/help/website-owners/feeder-servers-public-ip-addresses/
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Erik from Feeder at erik@feeder.co, and he can provide more details.
Thanks!
