Collections are lists of posts that YOU control. It’s a powerful tool to help you stay organised and create new workflows with your feeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create a Collection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To create a Collection you need to head over to the Library page. Here your defined Collections are listed neatly under “Collections”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click on “New collection”. Name your Collection something appropriate. Then choose the icon and color that best represents the content you’re planning on putting there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Press “Add collection” and it will appear in your feed list. The Collection can be moved and added to folders, just like a regular feed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add posts to a Collection…<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Note<\/strong>: A post can be added to as many Collections as you wish, but it can only be added once<\/em> per Collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…in your web reader<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can right-click on a post to make the Collection dialog appear. In the “Reader” mode, the Collections icon will appear at the bottom of the post together with the Share\/Star\/Read icons. It also appears when you hover your marker in the post list. In the “Minimal” and “3-pane” mode the Collection icon will appear in the top bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…in the Feeder extension<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Right-click on a post and the Collection dialog will appear. Click on the Collection you wish to add the post into and press “Done”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…in the Feeder app<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Press the Collections icon in the post list or while reading a post. In the screen that opens you can create a Collection, or choose which already existing Collections the post should be in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…using keyboard commands<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When navigating with your keyboard, press P to activate the Collections dialog on the currently active posts. Use the Up\/Down keys to highlight a Collection and press Enter to add it. Then press “Done” when you are done to hide the dialog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viewing a Collection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There’s really nothing different about browsing a Collection. It’s just like navigating through a regular feed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collections with Rules<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Besides the Collection dialog mentioned earlier, posts can be automatically added to Collections based on Rules: Using the “Add to collection” action-type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, create a Collection. Then, click on the Collection in your Library and press “Create your first rule”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choose feed\/feeds and start adding the criteria you want. In this example, we have created a Rule on one specific feed to add posts that contain the word “paper” to the Collection “Ideas”. Remember to press “Save rule” when you’re done and then save the changes you’ve made in your Collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note<\/strong>: A feed can have as many Rules as you like, so you can add posts into many different Collections. Here’s what it will look like on your Rules page:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Share a Collection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To share a Collection with your team, you can add it to a team workspace. In the Team tab, you can find all your team’s workspaces. Choose the workspace you want your shared Collection in, click on the workspace and then the Feeds tab. Here you can add the Collection to the workspace using the “Add collection” button in the top right corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding posts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Follow the procedure outlined previously for adding posts to the Collection. When a post is added to the Collection, users will receive a notification just like with any other post (note that users can opt out of e-mails and notifications as they please).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All users in your team can add any post to any Collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unsubscribing\/deleting a Collection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Since a Collection can be shared with any number of teammates, unsubscribing to a Collection does not delete the underlying Collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If a Collection is deleted from the feed list, it will still appear in your list of Collections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you wish to re-add the Collection to your feed list, simply press “Subscribe” next to the name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Collection can be deleted permanently as well. Just click on a Collection in the list and press “Delete”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note:<\/strong> There is no way to bring it back once deleted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feeder Dashboard & Collections<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Feeder Dashboard & Collections make for a powerful use case. Collections can be opened in the Dashboard just like any other feed. Setup Rules to automatically add posts of high importance, and keep a pane open just for those. It will help you faster triage your important tasks and news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A note about Collections & filters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Collections combined with the Rule “Filter posts” does not work well. If you want to create a workflow with lots of filters on the same feed, we recommend that you create several different Collections instead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you add filters to a feed that also has the Rule “Post to collection”, you will end up with missing entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example: You want to filter out content from a news site using the keywords “Biden”, “Ukraine” and “EU”. Instead of collecting all filtered posts in the same list, you create three different Collections. One for “Biden”, one for “Ukraine” and one for “EU”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
